Welcome to Ju-te: The Gentle Hand – Christian Warrior Martial Arts

At ju-te.org, we share Ju-te, a modern Japanese internal martial art that blends the yielding principles of Jujutsu, the spiraling energy of Chen Style Tai Chi, and the intent-driven simplicity of Yiquan. Founded by DK Hayek, a Grand Master of Musashi Shibata-ryu Koryu-jutsu, Ju-te meaning “gentle hand,” is more than a martial art; it’s a path to physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual growth rooted in Christian faith. Our mission is to empower people of all ages, from seniors to youth, to become Christian Warriors, strong in body, steadfast in faith, and compassionate in service.
Our Story
At 74, DK Hayek, the creator of Ju-te and author of two books, including Ju-te: The Gentle Hand, lives the principles he teaches. Inspired by a lifetime of martial arts (Ninjutsu, Karate, Jujutsu) and a deep Christian faith, DK developed Ju-te to harmonize physical fitness with spiritual discipline. “Ju-te is the wind,” he writes, “it flows, it yields, it guides.” Like the bamboo grove in our story of Taro, Ju-te redirects life’s challenges with gentleness, reflecting Christ’s call to “turn the other cheek” (Matthew 5:39). DK’s journey, from mastering kote gaeshi wrist turns to cultivating ki through tachi zen, shows that health and faith can thrive at any age, fueled by a diet of salmon, salads, and oatmeal, and a heart for
God’s grace.
Our Vision: Health, Fitness, and Christianity
Ju-te is designed for everyone:
  • Seniors find mobility and peace through gentle moves like tachi zen and kokyu ho breathing, staying vibrant as Psalm 92:14 promises, “They will still bear fruit in old age.”
  • Youth build confidence and respect through playful kanshu drills, learning to serve humbly (Galatians 5:13).
  • All ages reduce stress (by 20%, per Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, 2019) and grow in faith, using Ju-te’s hand-centric techniques as tools of service, like Christ washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:14–15).
Our logo—symbolizes this union of strength and faith, with water ripples evoking baptism’s renewal. Ju-te’s philosophy of “ju” (gentle), “te” (hand), and “ki” (energy) mirrors Christian values: yielding like bamboo (Colossians 3:13), serving with open hands (Matthew 25:40), and living by the Holy Spirit’s breath (John 20:22).
